Vaughn Palmer: Throne speech day a complete downer for Horgan and the B.C. NDP
Well it was quite a day at work today. It was Throne Speech Day but it was overshadowed by mass protesting over the Coastal Gas Link Project. All entry points were blocked and it was a physical struggle to get inside the door. What the media has failed to tell you is that there was many professional protestors with balaclavas that were trained to be intimidating. I can handle myself but I felt sorry for staff, young and old alike that were pushed, spat on, threatened, to the point that not all of staff or MLAs made it in. An elderly Minister was pushed to the ground and there was reports of people bleeding from some physical conflict.
I'm all for peaceful and organized protest but in my opinion this was a bit beyond that. I hope no one got seriously hurt.
Meanwhile, the Premier was nowhere to be seen.
All I can say is that you reap what you sow and it was harvest day for the NDP.
The saga continues tomorrow.
Even the government news release had to stretch to find anything newsworthy to say.
